When activated, SMARTFIND Plus transmits radio signals which are detected by the global COSPAS-SARSAT satellite network. The signal is then passed on to ground stations for processing. Any emergency distress alerts received are relayed to the nearest automated relay station.
The processed information is then forwarded to a control centre where it is decoded and the distress and registration details are passed on to the relevant search and rescue authority.
